Andrew West

ANDREW WEST

Andrew West has been a photographer at the News-Press in Fort Myers since 1996. He covers general news and documentary assignments for the newspaper.  He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.

In addition to photographing local news and events, he has documented events throughout the country and parts of the world.  Some of the highlights of his career include the following: covering all the hurricanes that hit Florida in 2004 and 2005 as well as Katrina in 2005; documenting a climbing trip to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in 2001; ; chronicling the working cowboys at the Babcock Ranch in 2006. Traveling to Haiti multiple times to photograph Hurricane Jean and the earthquake in 2010 and 2011. Chronicling the working cowboys at the Babcock Ranch in 2006. His latest project was an in-depth look at the Florida Miccosukee, Seminole and Traditional native culture.

AMANDA INSCORE

Amanda Inscore Whittamore has worked as a passionate and award-winning photojournalist with The News-Press since 2003. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A native of North Carolina, Amanda enjoys traveling, hiking and chocolate (especially Norman Love Confections). She loves spending time with her husband of three years and two-year-old son. And occasionally she enjoys reading a book while her son naps.

Sarah Coward

SARAH COWARD

Multimedia photojournalist Sarah Coward is part of news-press.com’s visuals team: producing images and videos for our Southwest Florida print and online audience. A native Minnesotan, she attended the School of Hard Knocks, learning the art of photography and videography with a little help from her friends and trial-and-error. A lot of error… Sarah has three grown kids, a cat named Juan Pablo, a number of dust bunnies and a husband of 34 years who loves her madly, especially when she bakes.

RICARDO ROLON

RICARDO ROLON

Visuals Journalist Ricardo Rolon spearheaded the multimedia team at The News-Press, news-press.com and its satellite publications. His award-winning career began as a photojournalist in Boca Raton, and continued at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, CA working first as photographer and later as editor. He began working at The News–Press in 2004, a few months prior to the busiest hurricane season in Southwest Florida’s history. A native of Puerto Rico, Rolon moved to Florida as a teenager and is a graduate from the University of Florida College of Journalism.

MARK BICKEL

MARK BICKEL

Mark has worked for The News–Press Media Group for the past decade. He came to Southwest Florida from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where he was the sports editor for the Gannett owned Poughkeepsie Journal. Mark started as a sportswriter in Poughkeepsie after graduating from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Mark has both his Masters in public relations and undergraduate degree in television, radio and film management from the Newhouse School. Since joining The News–Press in 2004, Mark has held a variety of titles including sports editor, digital editor and currently Consumer Experience Director.

Jack Hardman

JACK HARDMAN

Jack Hardman has worked as a photojournalist for The News-Press for the last two years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in fine art with a concentration in creative photography from the University of Florida.  Prior to working for The News-Press he spent thirteen years working for a variety of editorial and commercial clients. He is an Arkansas native but has lived in Florida for most of his adult life.  He enjoys painting/drawing, along with outdoor activities like fishing and boating.
